Brown Sugar

Brown sugar is prepared from regular sugar mixed with molasses. It has a distinct brown colour and rich flavour. The sugar is used as a glaze in savoury dishes and for making many sweet sauces, syrups and baking purposes. It is often stirred in many beverages until it is dissolved using low heat to prevent burning. When exposed to air it may harden, so the sugar must be stored in an airtight container. Brown sugar does not have a shelf life so can be consumed for a long time.
